kabuki as a graphic cube

The starting face, the border represents the curtains on stage, which open for a Kabuki play. the golden texture reflects the jewellery and clothing worn by the performers.
I used a digital brush that replicates the texture of Japanese brush calligraphy.
A pictogram symbolic of the most important apparel in a Kabuki play- the Kabuki masks.
A collage to show what my interpretation of Kabuki is - the Great Wave off Kanagawa represents the dramatic acting in this form of theater and how robust and strong it is in nature, while the audience stays immersed in this controlled chaos.
A pattern with the masks paired with golden Sakura flowers ( Japanese cherry blossoms).
